The Regular Season in Liga MB is slowly approaching the end. But there may be still some important changes in the final standings in the last 3 rounds. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
The biggest surprise of round 15 was guest Independiente's (#6) road victory over Brujos (#7) 92-81 on Monday evening. Independiente dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Brujos' 44. Independiente looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The best player for the winners was American swingman Andravious Smith (198-1995, college: Tougaloo) who scored 37 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 6 assists. His fellow American import Nick Moore (198-1991, college: Alliance) chipped in 19 points, 18 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Marcus Millien (188-2000, college: Carlow) who recorded 29 points and 9 rebounds. Brujos' coach rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Independiente maintains sixth place with 7-8 record. Brujos at the other side keep the seventh position with nine games lost. Independiente will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Brujos will play at home against Metapan (#3) and are hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Metapan. First ranked A.Lobos faced second-best Metapan. Guests from (13-2) defeated host Metapan (11-3) 101-89. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Metapan. It was a good game for American guard Jerome Savoy (185, college: Pfeiffer) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Michael Melendez contributed with 30 points (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) for the winners. Cuban forward Yoel Cubillas (204-1994) answered with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists for Metapan. A.Lobos have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with 13-2 record. Metapan at the other side dropped to the third position with three games lost. A.Lobos will play against Santa Ana (#8) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Metapan will play against Ahuachapan (#10) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
